A group of Muscogee (Creek) people return to their ancestral lands at the current site of Intrenchment Creek Park in the South River Forest. The Muscogee delegation calls on everyone to defend the land from the Cop City.
Third and Fourth Weeks of Action
A massive inter-agency raid encircled the forest. By the end of the day, five people were arrested. All of them were slapped with felony charges including “Domestic Terrorism.”
The Georgia State Police murder Tortuguita in cold blood.
The Fifth Week of Action. The police raided the South River Music Festival, indiscriminately arresting 23 people and charging all of them with “domestic terrorism.”
After a record-shattering 14 hours of public comment, the Atlanta City Council betrays their constituents by voting 11-4 to approve funding for Cop City.
The day after the wildly controversial City Council Vote, activists announce they will be bringing #StopCopCity to the ballot box.
The Sixth Week of Action
Referendum organizers announce they have collected over 100,000 petition signatures to let Atlantans vote on Cop City.
